Metropolis windscreen choice / updated
There are many reasons to get a new Metropolis windscreen for your trike. It may be style, or it may be necessity.
If you’re just as lucky as I am and got yourself a beautiful RS – you also got a small smoked Ermax windscreen. I won’t argue – it is a very nice looking windscreen. But for me it is way to small (I drive on freeways a lot), so I had to look for a replacement.
After an extensive search, there appear to be 3 windshields, which are compatible with Metropolis:
Faco / Italy
The widely known one is from Faco. It’s high, it’s wide, it has hand-covers integrated (so one might drop the handspoilers from Peugeot). It only comes in clear / transparent color.
I’ve ordered one from EasyParts.nl, still waiting for it to arrive. If you live in Germany, Peugeot-Metropolis.de guys have their own shop where you can also order one. They are arount 100 euro’s + shipping.
And while writing this, I’ve actually found a small motorcycle parts in Palermo, Italy, who also sell them on Ebay for 49 euro only and they claim to have a stock of 10! Delivery to NL costs 28 euro extra, but this still beats everything else.
Here’s one more pic of the windscreen:
Ermax High
While searching, I’ve found another interesting option: Ermax (the French maker of the original RS windshield) also make a high one (70cm), it costs about 100-120 euros (not many online retailers have these), but they come in 4 colors: clear, smoked, grey and light black (this being the same color as original small RS windscreen). And as if it was not enough – you can have a silkscreen print on it in
It also has built-in hand protection (looks slightly narrower than Faco) and broader deflectors on top of the screen. And it also has a small cutout on top of the screen. I wonder, why. Here’s a short video with this windshield.
If anyone has any experience with either Faco or Ermax – please either comment of drop us a line with your impressions!
The original Peugeot high screen
And for those of us, who prefer the original – you can always go and order the non-RS screen from Peugeot. No idea what they charge for it. Another option is to try and buy one from someone who’s got themselves an RS-version. But bear in mind that original Peugeot do not have hand spoilers on the sides and they seem slightly smaller than Faco/Ermax. And it does have a beautiful Peugeot’s Lion logo on it 🙂
